New Evangelization Novena: We are called to evangelize
During the season of Lent, we are called to renew our relationship with God through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving as we prepare to celebrate the Passion, death, and Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. This year, we ask you to join the CatholicTV Webathon Novena by dedicating a portion of your prayer to the New Evangelization. We will pray a novena as we seek to strengthen our mission of evangelization through television. We pray that as we grow in our own relationships with God this Lent, we may bring others back to Christ by the grace of the Holy Spirit. Please join us each day by praying the opening prayer, meditating on a Bible verse that calls us to evangelize, and praying for the New Evangelization to bear fruit.
Novena Day 1: We are all called to evangelize
Pope St. John Paul II first used the term "New Evangelization" decades ago. But for us as Catholics, there is nothing really "new" about evangelizing. Our job as disciples of Christ has always been to bring the Gospel to all people. As a Church, this is a common responsibility we share. Evangelization can take different forms, and your particular gifts might prompt you to approach it in an unconventional way. When we think about the New Evangelization, we open our minds to all the possible ways we can evangelize. Just as we are all called to holiness, we are all called to evangelize.
Lord God, we ask you to pour out your blessings on your Church as we answer your call to the New Evangelization. Grant us the grace to proclaim the Gospel to those who have not yet heard it and to those who have strayed from you, especially through the use of television in CatholicTV’s mission. Help us to see new ways to use the tools of our time to spread your Word to all people. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
“He said to them, ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.’” – Mark 16:15
Lord Jesus, you called your disciples to preach the Good News to the whole world. Help us as your disciples today to bear witness to the truth of the Gospel to all people. Amen.
Thank you for praying with us as part of the Webathon Novena. If you're able to offer us financial support in any amount, you can do so here:
